  • Students are required to be in dress code every day. Jeans with NO rips are allowed on Fridays OR on days that are cold. NO leggings allowed. 4th Grade General News🗞

  • Use the I Shine folders to create an incentive plan with your child to celebrate a successful week/Usa la carpeta de I Shine para crear un plan de incentivo para celebrar una semana exitosa.

Reading 📚Lectura    

    • Reading test was completed on Thursday. Your child's results will be in the Tuesday folder. Please reflect with your child when reviewing it. Have discuss their strengths and next steps. 
      • Sign and return the test. 

  • We started unit 2 focused on characterization. Your child participated in a book tasting to prepare for a book club. They tasted 6 different books and chose 1 they would like to use for as a book club. This book will be used for unit 2 learning targets alongside any other fiction text they are enjoying. Parent letter will go home Tuesday with more information/Iniciamos unidad 2 enfocada en la caracterización. Su hijo participó en una degustación de libros para prepararse para un club de libro. Probaron 6 libros diferentes y eligieron 1 que les gustaría usar para su club de libro. Este libro se utilizará para los objetivos de aprendizaje de unidad 2 junto con cualquier otro texto de ficción que estén disfrutando. La carta de padres se enviará a casa el martes con más información.

  • Daily homework is to read for at least 20 minutes. Your child can use books from home, books from NHE library or the public library, or use the books selected from Mrs. Barreras classroom library. 
  • A routine should be set in place in order to assure your child dedicates time to read in a quiet place. Technology devices should be out of sight to avoid distraction. This may need to be reinforced every so often to keep a consistent schedule. 

  • This week we will begin using our research to plan and create our products to teach 2nd and 3rd grade students including Grassy Waters Conservationists about the importance of the Florida Everglades/Esta semana comenzaremos a usar nuestra investigación para planificar y crear nuestros productos para enseñar a los estudiantes de segundo y tercer grado, incluidos los conservacionistas de Grassy Waters, sobre la importancia de los Everglades de Florida.

  • Living Things and Their Environment Unit 2 and begin Properties of matter and changes in matter Unit 3. Students will have a test on Thursday 9/29. Please have them study their notes and study guide. Also, available via google classroom are the teacher notes and the vocabulary on Stemscopes.
    Concluimos nuestra Unidad 2 de los seres vivos y su entorno y comenzamos la Unidad 3 de propiedades de la materia y cambios en la materia. Los estudiantes tendrán un examen el jueves 9/29. Pídales que estudien sus notas y la guía de estudio. Además, están disponibles a través de Google Classroom las notas de la maestra y el vocabulario en Stemscopes. 

Writing✍Escritura

  • Your child has completed their writing assessment. The essay will be going home once they are finished being evaluated. Su hijo ha completado su evaluación de escritura. El ensayo se irá a casa una vez que terminen de ser evaluados.

  • Unit 2 Argumentative essays are a genre of essay that requires the student to generate an opinion about a topic, evaluate evidence, expand on the idea, and set forth an argument concerning that idea in a clear and concise manner/Unidad 2 Los ensayos argumentativos son un género de ensayo que requiere que el estudiante genere una opinión sobre un tema, evalúe evidencia, amplíe la idea y exponga un argumento sobre esa idea de manera clara y concisa.

  • Essays will be written in both languages./Los ensayos se escriben en los 2 idiomas.

  Now that we are 3 months into the school year, it's a perfect time to clean out student backpacks. They only items they should have in their backpack are the book they are currently reading, a folder for any loose papers like math homework, science and math notebook, and a pencil pouch. Tuesday folders stay in class to be distributed on Tuesdays and return the following day./ Ahora que llevamos 3 meses del año escolar, es el momento perfecto para limpiar las mochilas de los estudiantes. Los únicos materiales que deben tener en su mochila son el libro que están leyendo actualmente, una carpeta para cualquier papel suelto como tareas de matemáticas, la libreta de ciencias y matemáticas y una bolsa para lápices. Las carpetas de martes se quedan en clase para ser distribuidas los martes y regresar al día siguiente.
